The recalled school buses violate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 222 since the latching mechanism which is intended to retain the seat cushion to the frame may not work as intended. The faulty self-latching mechanism can thus increase the risk of injury to those sitting on the seat cushion in the event of a crash. The recalled school buses have a recall campaign ID number 12V007000. The company is expected to begin notifying vehicle owners about the recall during January 2012.
